Search for two missing children in Nova Scotia enters third day

Officers are searching for two children who have been missing since Friday morning. The two children were reported missing from Pictou County, Nova Scotia, at 10 a.m. Friday.

About the children

Lily Sullivan, 6, with shoulder-length light brown hair and a ponytail. She may be wearing a pink outfit (pink sweatshirt, pants and boots) and a white backpack.

Jack Sullivan, 4, with short brown-blonde hair and blue boots with a dinosaur print. No other clothing is known.

Photos of the two children have been released to the media.

Search area
Search teams are searching within a 3.5-kilometer radius of the Pictou County woods, using ribbons to mark the areas they are searching.

Mother's plea
The children's mother, Malia Brooks-Murray, said in an interview:

"All I'm trying to do is stay hopeful. I want to hold my children and bring them home.”

Status of the investigation
The RCMP said there is no evidence that the two children were abducted and that they appear to have wandered away from home. The search will continue until new evidence is found.

Emergency services are on scene
The search continued through Friday and Saturday nights, with new teams and volunteers replacing the night crews on Sunday. About 160 people from the ground search and rescue team, the air force, the Department of Natural Resources and several RCMP units are involved in the search.

Appeal to the public
Police are asking anyone with information about the two children to call 902-485-4333 or 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
