Rainbow Bridge reopens a day after deadly vehicle explosion
The Rainbow Bridge border crossing between Canada and the United States has reopened after a lengthy closure caused by a deadly car explosion on Wednesday.
A vehicle sped off the road leading to a border checkpoint, crossed the median and became airborne, officials said.
The incident was initially treated as a terrorist incident, but authorities later said they were treating it as a traffic accident.
The Niagara Falls Police Department said in a statement Thursday that the investigation is currently being conducted by its Accident Management Unit.
The force said: "Due to the complexity of the incident, it will take some time to complete the investigation
