Ontario raises kindergarten teachers' wages to $24 an hour to make up for teacher shortages
Stephen Lecce, the Minister of Education, released the childcare workforce strategy on Friday. This strategy includes an increase in the wages of early childhood educators. According to this plan, the wages of childcare workers in Ontario will rise from being among the lowest in Canada to being among the highest, reaching $23.86 per hour next year. This change applies to members of the ECE (Early Childhood Educator) who are registered childcare workers. It has also been stated that by 2026, Ontario will need 8,600 childcare workers.
