The minimum wage in Ontario will increase from October 1, 2025. According to the government, the general minimum wage rate will increase from $17.20 to $17.60 per hour, an increase of 40 cents per hour, or about 2.4 per cent.

Other special wage rates will also change:

Student wages will increase to $16.60 per hour.

Domestic workers will increase to $19.35 per hour.

The daily wage for hunting and fishing guides will also change to $88.05 for part-time work and $176.15 for full-time work.

Accordingly, a full-time worker in Ontario could earn about $835 more per year.

The increase comes at a time when inflation and the high cost of living in cities like Toronto continue to put a strain on households.
