Ontario Food Banks request from the Government of Ontario
Food banks across Ontario are calling on the provincial government to do more for food bank patrons because food banks can no longer handle the volume of patrons.
Food bank use in Ontario has increased by 38% over the past year, from 800,000 last year to nearly six million.
According to the food banks, which have been emphasizing it for months, employment is the only way out of poverty. More than one in six referrals are employed in Ontario, up nearly 40% from last year.
