Online map of stores selling alcohol during the LCBO strike
In the wake of the Ontario Liquor Control Board (LCBO) strike, the provincial government has shared a map to inform consumers of thousands of local alcohol stores and producers.
These retailers include more than a thousand local Ontario breweries, wineries and other retailers such as Convenience Outlets, The Beer Store and licensed grocery stores.
This map allows users to find places that sell beer, wine, spirits or ready-made drinks. The map will be updated regularly as alcohol sales expand to licensed grocery and convenience stores, according to the provincial government.
According to media reports, currently 628 wineries and retail stores, 82 distillery retail stores, 373 breweries, 448 food stores, 389 LCBO stores and more than 400 Beer Store branches are displayed on the map.
Thousands of LCBO workers went on strike last Friday. Months of negotiations between the union and their management did not reach a new agreement.
LCBO branches will be closed for 14 days, but online orders will be available with free home delivery. If the strike continues after two weeks, the LCBO plans to open its 32 branches three days a week with limited hours.
