One of accused hockey players testifies at sexual assault trial

During the trial of five former Canadian youth hockey players in London, Ontario, the prosecution announced that it would not call any new witnesses and closed the prosecution's case.

At the hearing, Michael McLeod's lawyer announced that he would not be presenting any new witnesses or evidence due to the release of a video of his 2018 police interrogation.

Carter Hart's lawyer then asked him to testify in court.

The lawyer asked Hart about the plaintiff in the case, who goes by the alias "E.M.":

Did you have sex with him?

Yes.
Was it consensual?

Yes.
Hart said that "E.M." was lying on a sheet on the floor in room 209 of the Delta Hotel in London, masturbating and asking people in the room to have sex with him.

He added that he was 19 at the time, had never seen the scene before, and was “excited” by the situation.
Hart claimed that he did not want to have sex with her and asked her to perform oral sex. According to Hart, the sex lasted less than a minute because he did not achieve a full erection.

Hart also said that “E.M.” was upset that no one was having sex with him.
He explained that he remembered “Alex Formenton” going to the bathroom with “E.M.”. The court had previously heard that Formenton had sex with her there, which the prosecution claims was non-consensual.

Hart continued his testimony about the Cal Foote incident. The Foute charge relates to the plaintiff’s claim that Foute made a move that brought his penis into contact with the plaintiff’s face while she was lying on the floor.
But Hart said Foote had no contact with the complainant and was fully clothed.

The events took place in the early hours of June 19, 2018, at the Delta Hotel in London, Ontario.
