New Toronto park with 'giant bronze bear on a chair' statue to open soon!
In November, Crosstown South Park will officially open at the intersection of Eglinton and Don Mills, adding more than 3,000 square meters of new green space to the growing Flemingdon Park neighborhood — right next to the future Don Valley LRT station.
Designed with a children’s playground, picnic area, outdoor amphitheater, shaded seating and expansive lawns, the park is part of a larger Eglinton-Crosstown redevelopment plan that is set to bring thousands of new housing units to the area.
But the park’s star is undoubtedly the giant bronze sculpture of a seated bear by Toronto artist Dean Drever, a symbol of love, peace and protection. The park’s official name will be announced at the time of its public opening.
