More than 20 countries taking measures to evacuate their citizens from Israel and Iran
Canada, which has no diplomatic presence in Iran, is planning to help evacuate about 5,000 registered citizens through the land borders of Turkey and Armenia.
Commercial flights from Iran and Israel have been suspended, but land and sea routes to Jordan, Egypt and Cyprus are available for Canadians to leave.
Other countries, including China, Japan, Australia and Germany, have also evacuated hundreds. The United States is not directly repatriating its citizens, but is helping 25,000 of its citizens leave the region.
Britain temporarily withdrew its embassy staff in Tehran due to the recent clashes between Iran and Israel.
Switzerland has also closed its embassy and evacuated its staff due to the intensity of military operations.
