LifeLabs $10 million settlement for hacking customer data in 2019
About four years ago, in December 2019, LifeLabs computer systems were the target of a cyber attack and the personal information of about 9 million people in Canada fell into the hands of hackers. Life Labs is the largest medical diagnostic laboratory in Canada.
Due to this cyber attack and the theft of millions of people's information, a class action lawsuit was filed against Life Labs. In a court hearing held in October, the parties agreed that LifeLabs would pay about $10 million in damages to eligible individuals.
People who applied to LifeLabs before December 17, 2019 and were Canadian residents by October 25, 2023 can receive compensation. These people can send their application from now until April 6, 2024. You can click here to register an application and for more information.
Each eligible person can receive between $50 and $150 in compensation. Of course, this amount may change depending on the number of valid claims and legal fees.
