Life expectancy among Canadians falls for third year in a row
Life expectancy among Canadians declined for the third year in a row in 2022, and the number of people who died from Covid-19 was higher than in any other year of the pandemic.
Statistics Canada's analysis of last year's deaths shows that the average life expectancy of Canadians will reach 81.3 years in 2022, down from 82.3 years in 2019.
According to this report, life expectancy decreases when mortality increases or death occurs at a younger age or both.
