LCBO workers voted yes to strike

The Ontario Public Service Unions, which represent the council, said more than 800 people voted. Ninety-seven percent of LCBO employees voted in favor of the strike.

The decision-making committee announced that the parties have yet to reach an agreement. Negotiations revolve around a new contract, as well as ensuring that it is not lost as a result of the Ford administration's push to sell alcohol in convenience stores.

Prime Minister Doug Ford has announced that the sale of beer, wine and ready-made cocktails will be allowed in convenience stores and all stores by 2026.

Ontario Finance Minister Peter Batlenfalloy has previously said he has no plans to privatize the LCBO.
