Kiss bid farewell to live tour, first American band to go virtual

On Friday night, Kiss will end their last farewell tour called "The End of the Road" at the famous Madison Square Garden in New York. But will this really be the end?

The avatars were created by George Lucas' special effects company Industrial Light & Magic in collaboration with Pophouse Entertainment Group. The last one was due to Bjorn Elwes, a member of ABBA. The two companies recently collaborated on an "ABBA Voyage" show in London, where fans can watch a full concert of the Swedish band - to perform as their digital avatars.

Per Sundin, CEO of Pophouse Entertainment, stated that this new technology will allow them to carry on their legacy to "Azlite", even after their last live performance. He says the group won't be virtual during the performance because "that's the main thing" is the search technology of the future. "Kiss can play a concert a day in three different cities on three different continents. That's what I can do with this technology."

To create his digital avatars, depicted as superhero versions of the group, Case performs in motion-capture costumes.
