Jaguar reveals first concept car after controversial rebrand
The British luxury car manufacturer, Jaguar, introduced its first concept car called "Type 00". The car is the first look at Jaguar's new electric car, which has been unveiled since the company's controversial rebranding, which has caused mixed reviews.
In a statement released Tuesday after the car's unveiling at Miami Art Week, the automaker said it "delivers a clear, unexpected and dramatic physical manifestation of Jaguar as the brand continues to evolve."
The "Type 00" has a long hood and a fastback profile, and is also equipped with 23-inch aluminum wheels. This car is displayed in two colors: Miami Pink and London Blue.
The Jaguar brand has said that it will become an electric and luxury brand, but this transformation goes beyond Jaguar's own products.
These brand changes sparked controversy last November with the introduction of Jaguar's new logo, which is supposed to be a celebration of modernism. Instead of using the big Jaguar name, the new logo includes a new design called "Leaper", which is supposed to symbolize the movement and power of the brand.
Finally, the first production car in Jaguar's new direction will be an electric four-door GranTourer that will be unveiled in late 2025. The car will be built in the UK and Jaguar also plans to launch its own brand stores around the world. The first store will be opened in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
