Chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Toronto
A severe geomagnetic storm is expected to hit Canada from Thursday evening, October 16, to Friday morning, and large parts of the country will see brighter and more colorful auroras than usual.
✨ The provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec are in the path of this amazing phenomenon. Cities such as Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Jasper and Yellowknife will have the best chance of directly observing the green and red skies.
🌌 Even residents of more southern regions, including the cities of Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, may be able to see the aurora lights on the northern horizon. For the best viewing, it is recommended to stay away from brightly lit urban areas and choose dark skies.
According to the Canadian Space Agency, the best time to view this spectacle is from a few hours after sunset until around midnight. If weather conditions are favorable, tonight's sky could be the scene of one of the most beautiful natural phenomena of the year.
