Identification of a large gang of fake Toronto police officers

Police officers in Mississauga have successfully identified a large gang of counterfeit Toronto police officers who possessed firearms, counterfeit police badges, and other contraband materials used to impersonate law enforcement officers. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that, following investigations by the CBSA Ontario OFSET) gun smuggling task force, an individual has been arrested for possessing a substantial number of firearms and other contraband items in connection with this group.
The Toronto Police officers initiated their investigations in March when firearm smuggling officers at the Vancouver International Mail Centre discovered a package containing a prohibited weapon destined for an address in Ontario. Currently, this case is under the scrutiny of Toronto Police officers for further investigation and follow-up.
This arrest eventually led to a separate firearms trafficking investigation in 2021, where CBSA officers discovered a package containing counterfeit police service badges, warrants, Alberta badge templates, and a collection of badges bearing law enforcement emblems, military insignias, and information. These materials were intended for impersonating counterfeit law enforcement officers.
These investigations also led to the issuance of a search warrant on May 24, 2023, where law enforcement officers found additional equipment, including a full police uniform, several bulletproof vests, identification cards, badges, and other counterfeit Toronto Police items used for impersonation.
Among these confiscated items were a reported stolen firearm, four prohibited weapons, six imitation firearms (models), over 70 rounds of military ammunition, five ammunition magazines, shock firearms, brass knuckles, banned knives, over 30 grams of cocaine, and over $60,000 counterfeit Canadian dollars.
Furthermore, in this context, the Toronto Police officers arrested two individuals named Mujeeb Ahmed (38 years old) and Guraya of Vaughan on several charges, including 26 criminal offenses, two customs offenses related to firearms smuggling into Canada, and one count related to controlled substances and possession offenses for trafficking.
Joshua Newby, the Director of OFSET at CBSA, stated, "The CBSA Ontario OFSET firearms smuggling enforcement team is strongly committed to ensuring the safety of our communities." He added, "The seized firearms, handguns, illicit drugs, counterfeit currency, and imitation police equipment were being utilized by this gang for impersonating police officers and have now been removed from the streets."
