Freezing drizzle, brutal cold: Weekend weather forecast wrap

From freezing rain to bitter cold, wintry conditions are expected across Canada this weekend.

Here's a quick look at the weather warnings issued in Canada and the forecasts for major cities across the country:

Atlantic Canada

Sunday will be the coldest day of the weekend in St. John's, Newfoundland, with a high of minus 1 degree. Rain and sleet are expected for Friday and Saturday.
Temperatures will be around freezing in Corner Brook, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor and other areas. Snow is possible in Labrador City over the weekend, with highs ranging from minus 6 to minus 1 degree.

Quebec

Temperatures are set to warm up in the coming days, with freezing rain warnings in place for several areas in Quebec from Friday to Sunday.
Montreal and Quebec City were also under air pollution warnings on Friday. Temperatures are expected to warm up over the weekend, reaching 7 or 8 degrees Celsius by Monday.

Ontario

Drivers in parts of Ontario are advised to be cautious as freezing rain is expected for Friday and Saturday.

There is a chance of freezing rain in Ottawa, but no warnings have been issued until Friday evening.

Prairies

No warnings have been issued for Manitoba. The coldest day of the weekend will be Sunday.

Alberta

No warnings have been issued for Alberta before the weekend. Temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend.

British Columbia

A snow warning was issued for one area of ​​British Columbia on Friday morning. People living in the Sea to Sky region between Squamish and Whistler should expect up to 20 centimetres of snow.

For Vancouver and Victoria, rain and highs of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius are forecast.

Northern Canada

No weather warnings have been issued for northern Canada.
For Whitehorse, there is a chance of snow on Sunday, and temperatures will range from 0 to minus 13 degrees over the weekend.
