Free public internet launched in Toronto!
Citizens and visitors can now connect to free Wi-Fi at more than 250 locations across Toronto. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and create equal access to technology across the city. 🌐
📍 About 89 percent of these locations are located in neighbourhoods that have previously faced economic and social challenges or are currently experiencing rapid growth and development and need more infrastructure.
🤝 The project is part of the ConnectTO program, which aims to expand internet access, promote digital literacy and public education for all Toronto residents.
💬 According to the city, this initiative is an important step towards building a more inclusive, connected and equitable city and demonstrates that Toronto attaches great importance to digital equality and affordable access for all. 💻
📍 To see a map and list of free Wi-Fi spots, visit toronto.ca/connectTO or search for ConnectTO Wi-Fi on Google Maps.
