Coronavirus vaccine will no longer be free in Quebec
With the start of fall, the coronavirus vaccination process in Quebec is entering a new phase. Previously, the vaccine was free for everyone, but now each dose will cost between $150 and $180.
However, the Quebec government has announced that some groups will still be able to receive the vaccine free of charge. These groups include the elderly, people with chronic diseases, pregnant women and healthcare workers. A special campaign will be launched for these people starting in early October.
Health officials have cited the end of federal funding and the complete transfer of responsibility to the provinces as the reason for the change. They also point out that the coronavirus vaccine is no longer as effective as it used to be and that a large part of the population has developed relative immunity to the virus.
