By the numbers: 10 pedestrian deaths this year by Ottawa drivers highlights growing problem
Another car-to-person crash Thursday evening in Vanir is the latest in a series of pedestrian accidents in the city.
According to the Ottawa Police Service (OPS), 10 of those collisions have resulted in death this year, including four since Oct. 2.
Most of these collisions involved people suffering from serious, critical and fatal injuries.
Between 2017 and 2020, there were 26 fatal crashes involving pedestrians and cyclists, according to City of Ottawa data.
The number of deaths of pedestrians and cyclists until November 24 of this year has exceeded the number of deaths in 2017, 2018 and 2020.
