پاسخ قاطع کانادا به تعرفههای ترامپ: تمرکز بر بازار داخلی و توسعه تجارت جهانی
Donald Trump has imposed new tariffs on Canadian exports, which have been met with a negative reaction from the Canadian government. However, Canadian officials emphasize the focus on domestic empowerment and developing international cooperation.
️Mark Carney wrote in a message on the social network X on Friday: “As negotiations with the United States on trade relations continue, the Canadian government is focused on what it has: strengthening domestic capabilities. Canadians must be their own best customers, and with this approach, the groundwork will be laid for the creation of high-paying jobs. We seek to expand and diversify our trading partnerships globally and believe that we can rely on ourselves more than we can expect from any foreign government.”
️The new US tariffs, which will take effect on August 1, 2025, do not cover products covered by the CUSMA trade agreement, and currently 94% of Canadian exports to the United States are still tariff-free. Trump has cited the purpose of imposing these tariffs as reducing the trade deficit, opposing Canada's dairy supply management system, responding to Ottawa's recognition of Palestine, and claiming involvement in fentanyl trafficking.
