Baby dies after being reported missing in midtown Toronto: police
A four-month-old baby has died after what Toronto police are calling a "suspicious incident" at a downtown Toronto apartment building Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the baby was reported missing by a family member shortly before 11:30 a.m.
Officials say officers were "quickly dispatched to" an apartment building near Marley and Roslan avenues, where the baby was found.
Emergency doctors arrived at the scene and took the baby to the hospital with serious injuries.
However, shortly after 1pm, police confirmed that the baby had died.
The cause of death has not been announced.
"While we recognize this is a tragic situation that raises many questions, no further details will be shared at this time," said a Toronto police spokesperson. "We want to assure people that there is no security risk."
So far, the circumstances surrounding this incident are not known.
The investigation is ongoing.
