A Toronto resident's creative way to prevent car theft
Amidst the out-of-control car theft crisis in Toronto, one resident recently took a creative and interesting approach to prevent thieves from getting into her car for the fourth time. In a recently released video, a Toronto woman filming the facade Outside his car, he can be seen taping a handwritten note to the driver's side window of the back seat.
The note reads: "Dear Mr. Thief, please don't break my car window." the door is open. Have a nice day.” After the video was released, many people compared the procedure to what happened in San Francisco a few years ago. Car owners in the Bay Area chose to leave their car doors open, windows down and trunks open in hopes of preventing thieves from entering their cars.
One person wrote in response to this video: "If his car gets stolen after this kind approach, my heart will hurt."
Unfortunately, Toronto has gained international notoriety for its car theft epidemic. Recently, the New York Times published an article about Toronto's car theft problem with the title, "For car thieves, Toronto is an attractive city."
In 2023, Toronto saw 12,710 car thefts compared to 9,785 the year before.
