450 logs near Apex Mountain Resort are to be burned
The BC Wildfire Service says about 450 piles of wood debris will be burned next week north of Apex Mountain Resort.
The piles are set to burn on October 23-27 and may be visible in Hedley, Olalla and Penticton.
BC Wildfire says people driving along Highways 3 and 3A may see smoke.
"The exact time to burn candles depends on the weather, site conditions and ventilation and snowfall," said BC Wildfire.
This candle burning continues only when the conditions are right and allows the smoke to spread quickly.
Burning is part of forest management because it prevents wildfires by reducing dead wood or brush as fuel, according to BC Wildfire.
This organization added, it will always control and monitor the mass fire.
