Four people died and one person is in critical condition after a crash in British Columbia on Tuesday.
The two-vehicle crash was reported just before 9 a.m. on Highway 97 near Mount Lake, approximately 45 kilometers southeast of Kamloops.
The driver and two passengers both died on the spot and the fifth person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Const said: “This is a terrible tragedy and our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident and are still trying to confirm the identity of the deceased.
With the presence of emergency teams at the scene of the accident, Highway 97 was temporarily closed.
The highway has since reopened to intermittent single-lane traffic, but disruption is expected as police investigations continue.
