Lumber mill levelled by mid-morning blaze

Eight people were injured when a man was giving a horse-drawn carriage ride in eastern Ontario on Thursday when he lost control of the horses, according to the Brockville Police Service.

Police say the eight people were taken to the hospital with injuries of varying degrees of severity, but none of them are life-threatening.

According to a police report, around 1:30 p.m., several calls were received about an out-of-control horse sleigh in the area of ​​Front Street in Brockville, Ontario.

When the police officers arrived, they found that several people were injured. Brookville Fire Department, Leeds and Grenville EMS, and local residents came to the aid of the injured.

A police investigation revealed that a man was offering horse-drawn carriage rides on Front Street when the horses became "angry" and lost control during one of the rides. Meanwhile, the carriage and horses collided with a parked vehicle and then fled to the west, ejecting the occupants from the carriage.

The enraged horses fled toward Stewart Blvd., then Eleanor St. and into the woods, where they got stuck in the trees and were brought under control.

The horses were not injured.

No charges have been filed against the man who offered the rides, police said
