Woman who fell out of Edmonton city bus dies
A woman who fell from an Edmonton city bus has died, police said in a statement yesterday.
The woman was injured after falling from a moving bus in west Edmonton on Friday.
According to police, the woman was riding a southbound bus on 174th Street around 3 p.m., when the bus turned onto 95th Street, stopped and headed for the back doors.
Police say he was leaning on a pole of the bus but lost his balance, causing him to fall backwards through the rear doors of the bus and onto the road.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died early Monday.
Edmonton Transit said in a statement Sunday that the doors on the buses are locked when they depart, but when the woman fell, the glass in the doors broke, sending her out of the bus.
