Woman files class action lawsuit against Nordik Spa alleging sexual assault
A woman has filed a class action lawsuit against the Nordik Spa in Chelsea, Quebec, on behalf of a group of sexual assault victims.
According to lawyers in the case, the plaintiff claims that she was sexually assaulted by a male massage therapist on December 2, 2024, during a massage. The law firm Lambert Avocats said the company failed to take the necessary steps to prevent or stop the incidents and is being held liable.
The lawsuit, filed in Montreal on August 13, includes all those who were assaulted during massage sessions at Nordik Spa and is now awaiting approval from a judge. The lawsuit cites similar previous cases, including a 2021 case that resulted in a six-month prison sentence for a massage therapist.
The lawsuit seeks monetary and punitive damages, including reimbursement of the massage fee, taxes, interest, legal fees, and compensation for material and moral damages.
Nordik Spa responded to the complaint by saying it would not comment at this time, stressing that it does not tolerate any misconduct by massage therapists. The management of the complex said that all employees are required to provide a background check and valid documents, and that periodic reviews are also conducted.
Spa officials also stressed that they will respond to the allegations with full transparency at the appropriate time and that the complex's policy is to fully cooperate with authorities in handling such cases.
