White shark found dead in shallow water outside Halifax
Three recreational divers found the remains of a great white shark in 10 meters of water in Trans Bay near Halifax on Sunday.
Alanna Canaran, Sarah Vanderkaden and Douglas Morrum encountered the shark after going diving off a pier in Trans Bay.
"On the one hand, it was really cool and amazing to see an animal this big up close, but on the other hand, it's obviously very sad to know that these animals are endangered and that they were actually dead," Vanderkaden said.
MARS Executive Director Tonya Wimmer said the organization did not have the means to bring the shark to shore due to its weight and deteriorating condition.
Instead, they collected samples and the head for study.
