‘We want answers’: All avenues being explored in search for missing N.S. children, police say

Photos of missing children Jack and Lily Sullivan have been released near their home in Pictou County.

Police say all leads are being investigated in the search for two young children missing in Nova Scotia.

The Pictou County Police Department (RCMP) issued a new alert Tuesday regarding the search for Lily Sullivan, 6, and Jack Sullivan, 4.

The siblings reportedly disappeared from their home on Gairlock Road in the rural Lansdowne Station area on the morning of May 2.

A massive search for them involved 160 volunteers and thousands of hours of searching across 5.5 square kilometres of forest and rural areas. The operation was scaled back last Wednesday, with police saying the chances of the children being alive were slim.

“We have a multi-disciplinary team of investigators, including major crime detectives and crime scene investigators, working to find Lily and Jack,” Staff Sergeant Curtis McKinnon said in a statement.

Police said they have received more than 180 reports from the public and are following up on all of them. They have also interviewed 35 people, including residents and relatives of the children.

The force confirmed that an RCMP dive team searched the waters around Lansdowne Station on Thursday and Friday but found no leads.

“We are working around the clock on this case. Like all Nova Scotians, we want answers and we want to know what happened to these children,” McKinnon added.

Police are still asking the public to call 902-485-4333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) if they have any information about Lily and Jack.
