Stanley cups recalled over 'burn hazard'
A recall has been issued for a number of Stanley brand travel cups, with consumers being asked to "discontinue use immediately".
The problem is related to the lid of the cups. Threading on affected models may shrink when exposed to heat and torque, which could cause the lid to unexpectedly detach during use, potentially causing burns to the user.
According to the published advertisement, "as of December 12, 2024, the company has received 3 incident reports, one of which resulted in burns in Canada." Also, in the United States, 16 accident reports and 2 burn reports have been received.
Those who own one of the recalled products can call 1-866-792-5445 to obtain a replacement door. Office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST). Also, consumers can request a new door through the website.
Affected products include:
Quadvac Trigger Action Travel Cups in 16 and 20 oz
Switchback travel mugs in 12 and 16 ounce capacities
Trigger-Action travel mugs in 12, 16 and 20 ounce capacities
Trigger-Action two-pack travel cups in 16 and 20 ounce capacities
More than 184,000 units were sold in Canada from May 2016 to December 2024. About 2.6 million units have been sold in the United States.
Serial numbers of affected products can be found here.
