Second storm incoming for Christmas Day in southern B.C.
The Canadian government has issued new warnings for British Columbia's south coast region for Christmas Day.
The region is bracing for a second storm, after the first one brought heavy rain and strong winds on Monday.
Special warnings have been issued for Metro Vancouver, Squamish, Vancouver Island, the southern Gulf Islands and the Sunshine Coast.
Forecasts show up to 100 millimetres of rain could hit these areas, along with strong southeasterly winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour.
Meteorological officials have warned that a weather system moving in today (Christmas Day) will bring very strong southeasterly winds to the interior coast of southern British Columbia.
A low-pressure system is set to combine with the first storm overnight into Boxing Day morning, which could cause wind conditions to persist into the late morning.
The warnings will last from late Christmas morning until possibly noon on Boxing Day.
As people on the south coast of British Columbia prepare for Christmas Day events, the Bureau of Meteorology is asking people to expect traffic disruptions and be prepared to drive according to road conditions.
Strong winds could damage outdoor holiday decorations and move loose objects. Power outages and fallen trees are also possible.
