Paul Thiel, the film and television actor best known for his role in the teen series One Tree Hill, has died at the age of 35.

Thiel died Friday after a "courageous battle with cancer," according to a statement from his agent, Susan Tolar Walters, provided to CNN on Monday.

His fiancee, Emilia Turello, also confirmed the news of his death by releasing a statement on Instagram and spoke of the love and courage he showed throughout his life. Thiel has appeared in several series and movies including "One Tree Hill", "Deep Water" and new works such as "Children: Red Dawn" and "Lily".
