Vancouver’s Iconic Painted Ladies Hit With Price Reduction

Four historic and eye-catching homes in Vancouver—famous for their vibrant colours and classic architectural style—are still sitting on the market a month after being listed. Their asking price has now dropped from $10 million to $9.5 million.

Located on West 10th Avenue in the heart of Mount Pleasant, these homes are officially recognized as heritage properties by the City of Vancouver. Built between 1900 and 1910, all four structures underwent an extensive, meticulous restoration process to preserve their Victorian and Edwardian character.

A Nod to San Francisco’s Postcard-Perfect Painted Ladies

Their colourful façades and timeless design have led many to compare them with San Francisco’s iconic Painted Ladies. Shades of ruby, turquoise, emerald green, and lapis blue give these homes a distinctive charm that instantly sets them apart.

According to real estate agent Mark Goodman, the price drop aims to generate more interest and attract additional offers. So far, he says, the properties have caught the attention of several local investors.

Five Decades of Restoration, Fueled by Passion

The former owner spent more than 50 years collecting historic elements—antique doors, neon signs, and vintage furnishings—from markets across the region. Many describe the homes as “a living museum.”

“In every room, there’s a story,” Goodman notes. “Everything was selected with incredible care, inspired by the history of the homes.”

Heritage Status Means No Demolition

The property includes 15 rental units and a furnished laneway cottage, but because of its heritage designation, demolition or full redevelopment of the homes is prohibited. Only limited infill development may be permitted.
