Starting today, 2,400 maintenance workers at the Montreal Transit Authority (STM) are on strike for 14 days.

🔹 The difference from the June strike is that this time, workers are refusing to work overtime, which would have caused further disruption to service.

📉 STM management has said the union’s salary increase request of about $300 million is beyond the organization’s financial means. They have proposed a 12.5% ​​increase over five years, but the union has criticized the STM for relying on outside contractors instead of addressing its demands.
