Man seriously injured in multi-vehicle crash on Stoney Trail
A portion of Stoney Trail was closed Wednesday night due to a multi-vehicle crash.
Calgary police said the initial call came in just after 6 p.m. for an accident on northbound Estony Lane just before Country Hills Blvd N.E.
A man was taken to hospital with head injuries.
At the scene, two vehicles - a car and an SUV - were seen on the side of the road with significant damage. A third vehicle, another car, was off the road and had front end damage.
Calgary police said in a social media post around 7 p.m. that northbound lanes were closed to Stoney Trail N.E. Country Hills Boulevard was closed due to the collision. As the traffic in the area increased, the police asked motorists to take alternative routes.
The shutdown was expected to last several hours. A collision reconstruction unit was dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Police said there was no indication that impairment was a factor in the crash, but they did not rule out other factors such as speed.
