Iranian cinema shines at the Vancouver International Film Festival 🇨🇦
An Iranian director was named among the big winners of the Vancouver International Film Festival, demonstrating that cinema breaks boundaries and becomes a common language for all people.
🎬 The prestigious SUMMIT Award was presented to Alireza Khatami’s The Things You Kill. This $15,000 award is given to outstanding Canadian or indigenous filmmakers who, with their exceptional narrative, take cinema beyond reality. Khatami’s film offers a poetic portrayal of loneliness, guilt, and redemption, and is a journey through the wilderness that silently cries out for humanity.
🌍 The jury praised his boldness and distinctive cinematic language; a cinema rooted in the Iranian experience but with a global outlook.
This achievement is a proud moment not only for Alireza Khatami, but for all lovers of Iranian cinema in the world.
