Hurricane Brill forced Canadian Airlines to cancel flights
Many Canadian flights have been canceled following the deadly hurricane Brill, which hit the Caribbean islands and headed for the Cayman Islands and Mexico.
On Thursday, Air Canada canceled a flight from Toronto to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and back to Pearson. Thursday flights to Grand Cayman and Cancun have also been canceled.
The airline also canceled 10 flights to and from Tulum and Cancun, Mexico, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
WestJet, meanwhile, has also suspended flights to Montego Bay and Kingston in Jamaica until at least Friday. The Calgary-based airline said in an update Thursday that it will only resume operations when conditions are safe.
Sunwing also warned passengers going to and from Jamaica and Cancun about possible flight disruptions.
Meanwhile, the Canadian government has issued travel advisories, urging people to avoid non-essential travel to the Mexican coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and the Caribbean, which are in the path of the powerful storm.
Hurricane Brill has wreaked havoc in the Caribbean, killing at least seven people and damaging homes.
