Crown Royal bottling plant ‘caught in the crosshairs’ of parent company’s struggles
Diageo announced that it will close its Crown Royal bottling plant in Amherstburg, Ontario, by February 2026. The decision is part of the beverage giant’s plan to cut costs and rebuild its supply chain.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford responded to the news by emptying a Crown Royal bottle at a news conference, calling the decision “stupid.”
About 200 jobs will be lost with the closure of the facility. The company said that production and key processes will continue in Canada, including in Manitoba and Quebec.
