Controlled suspension of Air Transat flights begins
Air Transat has begun a phased cancellation of its flights, following a 72-hour strike warning issued on December 7.
If you are flying with the airline until December 12, your flight schedule may be affected. Air Transat said that due to the strike, which is expected to begin on December 10, there will be a “phased and controlled” suspension of flights over the next three days, including flights to and from Quebec.
The pilots, whose contracts have not been renewed since 2015, are demanding better working conditions, more job security, fair wages and a better quality of life.
Passengers are advised to check their flight status before they travel. In the event of a cancellation, Air Transat is offering options such as rebooking within 48 hours, a return flight or a full refund for the unused portion of the trip. It will also cover the cost of additional accommodation for passengers, if necessary.
