CBSA seizes $24.6 million in cocaine at Blue Water Bridge
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has reported a “significant” cocaine seizure at the Bluewater Bridge in the Point Edward region.
On July 23, the CBSA announced that a commercial truck entering Canada from the United States was referred for secondary inspection, and during an inspection of the trailer, border officers discovered seven bags filled with brick-shaped packages containing suspected cocaine.
The total weight of the suspected substance was 197 kilograms and had an estimated street value of $24.6 million, according to the CBSA.
A 29-year-old man from Caledon, Ontario, was arrested and taken to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detention center.
The RCMP has charged the man with importing cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to traffic.
