An SUV hit a man who was sleeping on the sidewalk in downtown Toronto
Following a collision involving a sport utility vehicle and a man lying on the sidewalk in downtown Toronto, the police found the driver on Wednesday morning. The accident ultimately resulted in the death of the victim. At around 6:45 a.m., emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Wellington Street East and Scott Street, just east of Yonge Street, after receiving reports of a vehicle collision. A 57-year-old man with severe injuries was found at the scene and transported to the hospital in critical condition, where his death was later announced.
Investigators believe that the SUV in question was traveling north on Scott Street when it collided with a person lying on the sidewalk. The SUV did not stop on the sidewalk and dragged the victim along the ground. Eventually, with the help of the public, the police identified the driver and the vehicle in question. No charges have been brought forth yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
