Air Canada is offering cash to dissuade people from suing
The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) is currently handling over 61,000 outstanding cases related to passenger complaints against airlines. These passengers must wait for more than 18 months to see any resolution.
In this situation, Air Canada is employing delaying tactics and reaching out to passengers with pending cases. They offer these passengers a cash settlement in exchange for dropping their complaints.
However, some passengers have reported to the media that the offered amounts are less than what they believe they are entitled to, and these offers are often perceived as insulting.
Nevertheless, Air Canada claims that it provides full compensation for valid and legitimate complaints. Recently, they have started offering lower amounts or travel vouchers to passengers to resolve cases that they consider baseless.
