A Delta flight made an emergency landing at the Montreal airport after seeing smoke
A flight from New York made an emergency landing Friday after seeing smoke at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.
According to airport spokeswoman Anne Sophie Hamel, the Delta captain called emergency services before the plane landed with 69 people on board. The twin jets were pulled off the tarmac as a precaution and no injuries were reported.
Videos posted on social media show passengers walking on the tarmac surrounded by fire engines with flashing lights.
"Airport operations are now back to normal," Hummel said in an email.
The flight left New York's LaGuardia Airport at 3:25 p.m. and landed in Montreal just before 5:40 p.m.
The airline said passengers were taken to the terminal by bus and the plane was taken to the gate for evaluation.
"First responders confirm the aircraft is safe," Delta spokesman Anthony Black said in an email.
The reason for this is being investigated.
