12 people injured in stabbing at Hamburg train station, authorities say
BERLIN — A knife-wielding attacker attacked people at Hamburg’s main train station on Friday, injuring 12 people, six of whom were reported to be in serious condition.
Police said the attacker attacked people on the platform between lines 13 and 14 of the station. The social media platform X (formerly Twitter) also confirmed the arrest of the suspect but gave no further details.
The Hamburg fire department said six people were seriously injured in the incident, with three others seriously injured and three others with minor injuries, dpa reported.
Hamburg’s main station, located in the city center and Germany’s second largest city, is a major hub for local, regional and intercity trains. Police have blocked off part of the station.
