Health Canada recalls some furniture sold at the Brick due to excess levels of lead
Health Canada has announced that a portion of Lars-branded furniture sold at The Brick store has been recalled due to high levels of lead.
The recall includes the following items:
Lars Counter Chair
Lars Counter with Wood Top and Metal Base
Lars Table with Glass Center Section
Lars Counter Table
These products were sold individually or in sets of 5 or 7.
According to the notice, a total of 17,472 units of these products were sold across Canada between June 2023 and July 2025.
According to testing and evaluation conducted by Health Canada, the black coating on the bases and metal section of the products contained lead in excess of the permitted level.
Lead is highly toxic if swallowed, especially to children. Exposure can cause anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, serious brain damage, seizures, coma, and problems with the liver, kidneys, heart and immune system. In some cases, even death can occur. Also, continuous exposure to small amounts of lead can gradually accumulate in the body.
As of August 15, 2025, the company has not received any reports of accidents or injuries in Canada.
Purchasers of these products are advised to immediately stop using them and contact The Brick for assistance:
English phone: 1-780-452-7912
French phone: 1-514-685-9421
(9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time)
Email: recall@thebrick.com
The notice also emphasizes that under the Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act, the redistribution, sale or even gifting of the recalled products is prohibited.
