Canada's Skylar Park wins Olympic bronze medal in women's -57kg taekwondo
Winnipeg's 25-year-old Oscar Park eventually defeated Lebanon 2-0 after defeating Turkey's Hatche Cobra Ilgan in the losers bracket to win the Paris Olympics bronze medal in the women's 57kg category.
After this victory, he thanked the motivational words of his father and coach Jay Park. "He was proud of me and told me before the match that we win as a team and lose as a team," Park said. So we will continue to do this."
Park, who dreamed of winning an Olympic medal since childhood, dedicated this victory to his father and grandfather.
"It's still unbelievable," he said after winning the medal. I don't think it's true yet. But when the final whistle sounded, there was only joy and gratitude."
Park lost in the quarterfinals to South Korea's Kim Eugene, but Kim's advance to the final gave Park another chance to win a medal through the losers' bracket.
