B.C. teacher walks 100 kilometres from Fraser Valley to downtown Vancouver
A teacher in Mission, British Columbia, who chose to walk as a way to stay healthy during the pandemic, recently walked more than 100 kilometers from the Fraser Delta to downtown Vancouver.
In an interview with guest host Amy Bell on On the Coast, Michael Coe, 38, said the hike took about 17 hours. He left his home at 6 pm on Friday night and reached his destination in the middle of Vancouver at 11 am on Saturday.
Coe says her walking habit started at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak when one of her teaching colleagues encouraged everyone to be more active. He started running in the school's long track.
He quickly grew tired of this and began taking long walks around the Lower Mainland instead.
"It's a beautiful experience to go out and see the Fraser Delta from a different perspective," he said. "It's really amazing how diverse the culture is here."
